When you arrive for your appointment, we will have you fill out a patient registration and history information form. If you'd like to print these out and fill them out beforehand, they are available on the right.  This will help us gain essential information about your medical history.  We also ask that you bring your insurance cards and any other medical records that could help us evaluate your status.  You may eat normally and continue to take any medication prescribed by your doctor unless otherwise directed.

 

You should check with your physician or MRI technologist if you have had any of the following:

 

• Brain, ear or eye surgeries/implants

• Pacemaker or defibrillator

• Neurostimulator

• Aneurysm clips

• Metal implants

• Surgical staples

• Shrapnel or bullet wound

 

Because of the magnetic field, you will be asked to remove the following items:

 

• Cell phone                                         

• Keys

• Coins

• Wallet / Credit cards

• Hearing aids

• Watch / Jewelry / Belt

• Glasses

• Hairpins

• Dentures / Partial plates

The procedure typically will last 20 to 25 minutes, and it is very important that you lay very still through the entire exam.   There is an intercom system, so the technologist can hear and see you if you need anything.
